does this mean my iacv is bad or is it something else?
symptom:
morning warm up. it will start right up. stay at about 1100 rpm for 2 seconds then stall out.
i start it up again. this time it wont stay up at all.
i keep my foot on the gas pedal to keep it running so that it will have a chance to warm up.
after the temp meter shows im at operating temp, i can take my foot off the gas pedal.
the car will run just fine after that, until i turn off the engine.
turn off engine and turn it on after a few mins (engine is till warmed up).
idle will kinda fluctuate but not as bad as when its initially cold. it will drop a little but not stall out.
pump the gas pedal just once, the idle is back to normal. about 800 rpm.

The main symptom of a bad iacv would be fluctuating rpms. You can unplug it, if it dies out you k ow it's bad. When unplugged you should just get a check engine light.
when i unplug the iacv the engine does stall out. the cel light does come on.
question, if the engine stalls out, doesnt that mean the iacv is working?
because the unit is keeping the car running or is my thinking incorrect?

If you unplug your IACV and it is still good, it will throw a code as you say and it will have a short lope to it. Since the motor died when you unplugged it, the IACV is dead.
and while you're at it...take the little cover plate off the back of the FITV and screw the little white plug all the way in.

i dont understand why the iacv is dead? isnt it working if its keeping the car idling with it plugged in?
