Default Air Fuel Ratios while driving not at WOT

Im concerned about my air fuel ratios when Im not driving at WOT.

They seem to be a little goofy to me, and I would like to clear this issue up.

Sometimes at idle, my A/F ratio is 15-16. Which is a little high. Then under slight throttle like 10 percent throttle in between 2-3k rpms I get a 17-18 A/F.

Now when Im at Wot it just goes to 11-12 A/F.

I have a Megan Fuel Pressure regulator and over sized injectors. I want to get ride of the megan fuel pressure regulator, because I no longer trust it to be accurate or safe to use, and will go back to using the stock FPR.

My injectors are about 45cc's larger than stock needed. I am going to be getting charts of my A/F ratio at WOT off a dyno soon. I want to correct the fuel maps with my Apexi VFAC controller than, but I want to know what is the normals for the stock fuel usage.

I have look at what the stock fuel maps look like, and seen ignition charts, but what I want to see is what is considered safe to use in A/F.

I know that 17-18 is way to lean, and makes me worried, and even 15-16 is lean at idle. But since its just the idle I dont really know.

SOmeone hit me with some knowledge here, its much appreciated in advance.

So no one has any input?

Interesting.

So more or less Im trying to figure out what is going on with my car here.

I get a slight back fire, and am having trouble timing the engine with my findanza flywheel. There are 3 marks on the flywheel. 2 of them I can see and adjust with. The third mark is way back and if I time it to the third mark its very retarded and runs very bad.

If I time it to the most advanced mark it runs better but has some back fire.

Now Im thinking that my timing might be off a tooth some where, which is why I find myself running so lean. But Im not sure that I am even running lean, because I dont know what the A/F ratio should look like at idle, or 10-50 percent throttle.

15-16 at idle is fine. As long as the engine is stable and smooth, there's virtually no load on the engine so it shouldn't damage anything.

cruising should be in the 14.7 range.

11-12 A/F @ WOT (unless you're boosted) is a little rich, you should aim for around 13.

the timing marks, the first one is TDC, the second grouping is 16*.
If you have an adjustable timing light use the TDC mark and set the timing light to 16*.
If you have a non adjustable light aim for the center of the group of marks.
Be sure to do so with the Service jumper jumped and the engine at operating temp with the accessories and cooling fan off.

IMO...oversized injectors with no engine management = very bad.
VAFC on a honda = silly/stupid

Sometimes "Free Advice" is worth the price you pay.

In this case, the above comments of Relic should be welcomed. He is right, and you really should contact the person he listed. Sometimes, tuners can help you and it really be worth a few bucks. I know when I started I was willing to pay $300 plus at the end of the day.

Also, sometimes you can gain alot by doing to a dyno while a car is being tuned and learn alot with a few simple and well thought out questions. Just dont show up and tell people to give you answers, you'll be asked to leave!

Get your timing straight first (mechanically and software), otherwise your AFR tuning will be useless.

i'm between 15-16 afr's crusing at light loads, and at around 80 mph i'm at around 14-15 (engine load being higher)

i haven't run into any problems YET*knock wood* but it seems to run fine and doesn't cut out..

it sucks though, cuz the cells off of hondata from 60mph-70 are shared with the cells from 70-80mph, i'm not sure on the rpm but if i richen between 70-80, 60-70 will be really rich, i can't figure it out!
