how to diagnose lma?
hey there, i have a obd0 b16 with some pretty loud ticking coming from the head. i've done a lot of searching and i've come to the conclusion it's the lma's. so i'm gonna order some used ones, but my question is, how do i test the lma's to see which one is bad? will one or two be shorter than the rest? thanks in advance.
How loud is the ticking? I would go over the valve lash first
Well does the ticking go away when you hit vtec? Plus are your Valves adjusted properly?
To test LMA's you hold the Rpms to about 2gs and supply 12v power to the Vtec solinoid to actuate vtec. If it is the LMA's then the tick will stop.
But check your valves lash first.

i replaced the lma's...and it turns out the old ones were installed upside down!!va ****ing moron must have been working on my motor before i got it. but anyway, my valves are quiet now, and the lma's have been upgraded to the new coil type.
