'09 EX-L... Annoying Headrest Position?
Just an observation... the headrest can sometimes be annoying as it is very near the back of the head. I know the reason behind the design, but I was curious if anyone else had a similar opinion. And, did anyone attempt to slightly bend the headrest rods just a few degrees with any success?
Yeah, people have been complaining about it, never a problem for me. Some have tried to use the Accord headrests, not sure what year though.

Are they different than the Si headrests?
Perhaps pull seat forward a little, and push backrest backwards a little bit.
I can't stand when I see people(usually middle-aged ladies in Volvos) with their seats beyond vertical, all hunched forward. Its so dangerous.

I know with the Si head restraint, when I got rear-ended by a tractor trailer, I felt like I was placing my head on a pillow. Not the slightest neck strain.

Thanks for enlightening me. I thought they were only there to make the seats look cool.
I just question why they have to be annoyingly close to the back of the head, especially considering they are "active restraints". The older style passive head restraints are a lot further from the back of the head. Just an additional quarter inch of clearance would help in this case.
I can't help but feel like I'm hunched over like a 90 year old lady with osteoporosis when I get out after driving for any length of time.

^^^ Yes, just let it "touch your head."
I just learned this. Even if the impact does not "bend" your neck enough to damage disc, etc. Every inch of space between your head and headrest is "the distance" (don't know the geometry-physics term) force that tears your neck muscles.

if your head is already pushed up against the headrest then there's no need for it to do anything; the whole point of it moving forward in an accident is so that your head has less distance to travel backwards when there's a gap between your head and the headrest.
