well when i push my gears hard or downshift and let the car slow itself down it throws little fireballs from the muffler? why? is this gonna hurt anything?

its a DX with straight pipe 2" exhaust and a cherry bomb muffler.

NO back pressure will make it do this also. And since you said you have Straight Pipe then that is no building much Back pressure also if you dont have a cat then any un-burned fuel is just escaping out the exhuast causing the Fireballz as you call them. This will not hurt anything.

 

what about little backfire during idle just lilttle pops

when i downshift, my exhaust shoots out a puff of white smoke. what gives? 2.25" custom, cat, and magnaflow.

 

white smoke ur running rich. black smoke u got oil leaking in ur engine. the pop sound, sounds pretty crazy i hear someone ppl with that pop sound scare my *** sometimes n ****. some of them got fire coming out. is that becuz they using the spark plug under the exhaust

Black Smoke = Rich
Blue/White smoke = Oil, Oil+Coolant

dam the kid wasnt lieing when he said i had fire shooting out my exhaust!! i thought he was kidding cuz i beat him so badly..

Mine pops after shifting up or down sometimes and I'm not running rich, in fact, I get it more when I lean it out. I have a cat and 2" piping to a straight through muffler. What is this. And the guy that had the smoke colors all wrong is smoking crack, again... he's a monkey boy .

actually the flames could mean your running extremely lean

have a friend watch the color of the flames

yellow = lean ...bad!

blue= rich...better than yellow!


yea because if your running lean your motor is running really hot ...fuel cools down the exhaust temps and not enough fuel will cause hot EGT's ...hott enough to ignite the fuel mixture....so flames doesnt necessarily mean rich and good

my ***** been poping a lot lately as well. i have a fuct o2 sensor and the ecus dumping fuel because of it. dunno ive gotten any fireballs but ive had some good bangs come out of it. oh yeah, car runs like *** now

I have that as well on my CRX. its kinda sweet to here it. but i have to change my exhaust, its broken the pipe from the tank of the exhaust.
