I have a '90 Honda Civic Manuel transmission
Latly whenever I turn on my vehicle there is this loud screeching sound coming from under the hood. It will stop only after awhile or stop after i put the clutch in and give it gas. what is the problem?

 

Like a belt screeching sound?

 

could be. i lubed it up the other day and the next morning still that awful sound.

 

Do you have powersteering? a/c? CHeck all your belts for dry rot.

 

check the tension on your belts.

 

Check to make sure an idle pulley did not eat it's bearing.
