Default 94 EJ1 B18B1 Fitv Problem

..okay well I recently swapped a 96B18b1 into my coupe and I have the common problem of rough/fluctuating idle.....I cleaned the iacv and the fitv before I installed the intake manifold so I really don't wanna take them off and do it again...what I wanna do is basically block it off/cancel it...so I was wondering if anyone has done it and could they explain to me the steps and maybe add pics if possible....im trying to do this asap.....

-thanx in advance

Check for vacuum leaks. You might have a major vacuum leak. I didnt know 96 and up had fitv's. Only 95 and older didnt use a ecu form of cold idle enrichment therefore fitv.

There is a line that goes to the fitv. there is another line that runs to your coolant hose by iacv. Connect these, and your good. I HATE fitv and iacv. This will keep intake temps down too because you won't be running hot coolant around the TB.

Umm..not sure if the intake manifold is a 96...but I was told it was....but the hose from the fitv doesn't have anywhere to connect so its jus hanging there leaking coolant...that's why I wanna jus cancel it/block it off...and hopefully fix my idle problem...

Clamp it? The only problem is... If the fitv doesn't get coolant then it doesn't work. This may not be your problem. Check iacv.
*EDIT* if you are leaking coolant, maybe you have air in the system. clamp it, bleed coolant, and see your results.

Well I plugged it with my finger and there was little/no change...and it leaks out coolant everytime the idle jumps up..and stops when the idle drops....and my temp gauge says my cars warmed up but the fluctuating continues...

Since it is leaking, there is most likely coolant in the line. Plug it and THEN bleed the coolant. Do you know how to properly bleed coolant?

Once the coolant has stopped leaking and coolant is bled, if you still have a problem, try this:
Take off your intake piping. You will see two holes in the TB before the copper circle flippy thing. While the motor is running plug the top hole and see if the fluxuation stops, if so the iacv is at fault.if you plug the bottom hole and fluxuation stops, its the fitv.
My guess is the iacv is bad since it sounds like the fitv is not hooked up. Since you are leaking coolant though, It could also be bubbles in the line. Theres more but try this for now.

Okay...well I plugged the bottom hole on the throttle body and the idle went to perfect...so its the fitv like I suspected....but how do I basically keep it idleing good now...?

Take the TB off. Pull the gasket. Take some gasket material and cut yourself a gasket without fitv hole. Also, make sure you fix the coolant line.

Someone makes a block off plate for stock TB's but I don't know who. Anyone?

can you take a picture? i have a 96 as well in my eg, and it shouldnt have the FITV. the 95 and older ones do. so first of all, id call a few people if i were you (ie where you bought it from) and find out why theres an fitv. as far as coolant lines.....a picture would be very helpful. then i could tell you where to plug what.
