Default Poll and plans: next build project...

I've been getting very very antsy for another car to build up and have been choosing between these the two choices below:

1. Civic Sedan

2. CRX

I've built a CRX track car before, and it was tons and tons of fun. I loved the twitchy nature of it and how light it was. I also loved how cheap the maintenance items were (tires, brakes, etc).

Engine
This time around, instead of going NA, I would do a turbo build for road course duty. I have a complete turbo kit sitting in my garage for a B-series motor... so that would save cost on that aspect. However, cooling a turbo motor (water AND oil) for 20 min sessions would be a challenge. my old NA build was a challenge to keep the oil cool.

Chassis
Full cage. No if-ands-buts. But, the Civic Sedan will be more robust due to it's weight, vs. a cage for the CRX.
I like the stable wheelbase of the Civic Sedan, but the added weight is a factor. but, I've never seen a civic sedan on a track (if anyone has pics, post them!)... so, I think that'd be fun to build and race. The CRX did well, and I had a blast pushing a lot of people out of the way, turning lap times faster than many many other cars with more HP. But, there are a lot of guys out there building CRXs.

I am still in the planning phase though, since I've been looking over the classifieds for both CRXs and Civics in and around the southwest... waiting for that magical <$1000 deal.

Wow must suck around you I can find CRX's for $300 to $500 almost all day around me. The super clean ones are the only ones to hit close to $1,000...

i voted sedan, honestly because i think crx's are over played. sedans never get enough glory. they get owned but clueless women immigrants poor people and old people who drive them till the timing belt snaps then they end up in the junk yard with me saying WHY ARE YOU HERE???? but seriously a sedan build would be a nice change of pace from the usual check out my crx/hatch (i'm even knocking my own hatch here) builds. either way as soon as i can afford it i'm picking up a sedan.

if your going for a sleeper go with the sedan but if you want your car to look good and go fast go with the crx. I see a lot of sedans on here and they just dont look good. Every once in a while someone can pull it off but there few and far between.

i may have stumbled on a B-series swapped CRX for under $2000... so, who knows. that might be my replacement.

I voted CRX - it's what I'm building... for sentimental reasons (I drove one in the mid-90s when I was in college).

But a track-ready sedan would be so cool. A little heavier but it's all relative... even a heavy ef is pretty light.

I really liked your dearly departed CRX, Homer - so I'm anxious to see your next build...
