Default QUICK QUESTION - Balljoint nut torque????

Guys I'm replacing the upper control arm and balljoint in my 90 Civic sedan. Do you tightend the nut on the balljoint down tight and if the hole lines up with the castel nut, put the cotter key in or do you tighen it down and then back it off to the next place on the castle nut and then put the cotter pin in? I have totally forgotten. Thanks guys.

You never back it off to align the hole. Just tighten it snug and move to the next available hole.
