Default b20 in a eg need help!

okay first off i'd like to say this will be my first swap.i was looking into doing a b20 swap into my civic dx auto.but the main problem is that my parents refuse to let me swap it to a manual(must go by there rules they are helping me pay some of my bills.)basically what i'm asking is what's all needed and is it possible for me to use either a integra auto trans or another kind of auto trans to keep this **** auto?if not then what would a good alternative?

i would but if i do move out i am selling my honda for something else. since i'd move to Chicago which i do believe a honda would get stolen pretty easy there.so that's not a option.

i would just save my money until i moved out. it would be a waste of money if you just plan to sell the civic for something else. put that money toward your next car.

Automatic swaps are a pain in the *** and relatively useless. Honda AUTOMATIC transmissions dont hold power for ****. And the ECU and everything has to match it perfectly otherwise the car runs like **** or doesn't shift right.
My friend has a stock Manual LS, he raced against a Auto LS with I/H/E and he beat him by like 3 car lengths. Try to convince your parents to let you swap it to manual. Thats what I did.

Edit: Changed Manual to Automatic because of TYPO.

Just beat the tar out of the tranny until it breaks. If you're already swapping it out, it will be easier to convince them. Start collecting the parts, just stash them somewhere so it's not suspicious. Say you found a good deal on a manual tranny...

@OP yes you can fit a B20 in a rex. B20's arent that great for boost though because their sleeves are weaker since they are essentially overbore LS blocks. If you want to go boost I would do LS on boost.

drain the auto tranny, till its almost empty, and run the thing till she blows.
tell your parants its cheeper to swap to 5psd then put a new auto in it.

Jimster480--- he put that cause you said honda manual trannsmissons dont hold power for ****, which we all know isnt true.

The current automatic transmission has to come out either way so there really isn't much point in blowing up whats in there now. Heres the deal, I know this swap has been done before, but I have yet to hear of anyone getting an automatic B-series swap to run properly. The simple answer is to tell your parents you need to swap to a manual, which quite frankly isn't anywhere near as bad as it sounds an it a whole lot easier than trying to keep the civic an automatic.

Well my dad is a carb loving V8 guy and I convinced him that i needed to swap my car to manual. because auto in a Honda is a fail.

well my dad works at jeep in toledo. so he thinks he knows everything and he also believes a car that was auto from the factory isn't meant to be swapped over.

I dislike that thinking, especially since he won't let you. Probably more worried about safety than anything. He doesn't want you to go through all the work and then it ends up failing. his Auto's are born autos for a reason is a good coverup for TRUE LOVE OF HIS CHILD <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

""I like to ride my bicycle with no handlebars, thus everyone must do it too.""
^this type of thinking could do us in

If he won't let you swap to manual, find something that's already manual and has a bad engine to get it cheap. That, or say screw it and swap it anyway. My dad has never been any help to me with vehicles, so I do things as I wish. He's not thrilled about it, but if it was up to him, I'd be driving a cruddy old Bronco still.

my dad doesnt like hondas, but has never stoped me from doing anything... he also thinks he knows everything there is to know about cars, sad thing is, he has no idea about a honda, yet he thinks, he does... if i want to do it, i do it.. hes not happy about it, but you have to learn,
but look at it this way, having a dad that into cars, isnt such a bad thing...
if my dad had it his way id be driving a f150.

your going to have to prove it to him, or pay your own bills, i live with my dad also,

you can put a manual in any thing... example: only about 10% of all aerostars (my van) came with a 5spd. almost all were auto's with weak trannys that rob power. solution? go strip a ranger of all 5spd goodies and install it in the van (that's what i'm doing to my van). same thing with civics. would your parents even notice if you swapped your car to a 5spd when they aren't home?

Most domestics are a pain to swap, nothing is marked, no holes are there. But the civic is pretty straight forward, most of the holes are already there (including the one for the clutch pedal and master cylinder) as long as you use an aftermarket auto to manual swap mount theres no welding or fabrication involved, its a complete bolt on affair with the exception of drilling two 5/16 holes in the floor.

you dont even need an aftermarket mount. You just use the manual mount from the same car and your good. Just like 94EJ8 said All the holes are there except for the ones that hold the shift linkage into the chassis. So you will have to drill those 2. And you will need to get a aftermarket clutch line, as the one for the car is a pain in the *** to take out and it sux anyway.
My dad is very mechanical. He didn't know really anything about new cars but I taught him about my civic and he helped me assemble it the 2nd time (the first time my dumbass "friends" broke half the ****). One time something in the car broke ( i cant remember what) and I was like w/e ill fix it tomorrow. When I woke up in the morning my dad was like your car is fixed. He had fixed it while i was sleeping lol.
