will a bad tps sesor jerk the car at very low rpm and low speed?
i was curious if the tps is giving me trouble or is it something else.
1991 civic D16.
symtoms.
-start up it will idle fine then about 15 seconds it will start to bounce downward from where its at. NOT upwards.
-once warmed up it idles fine. no issues.
-at low speeds ( like going through a parking lot ) with 1st gear, if i keep the accelerator pedal at about 900 rpm - 1800 rpm the car will most of the time jerk back and forth till i put the car in neutral. letting go of the gas will not do anything other than slow the car down and the car will still be jerking. its like its bucking.

if u cant rev past 2.5/3k and it jerks back n fourth then ya, take the t/b off n look at it closely-the tps that is
my car does that too, but if i let off the gas it stops. i cant figure out what it is either, and my idle stays low and rough even after it warms up
'Noise' in the TPS sweep caused mine to be jerky at low-throttle situations.
You can take off the plug and measure the resistance between the middle tang and either outer one. If it makes a smooth sweep from min to max when you move the throttle its good, but if it jumps up all over the place, then it has noise.

Same thing happens to my car, I though it was supposed to do that. I have to give it gas strategically to kind of even it out or else it bucks hard.

bad tps does not always set off CEL.
Now if you completely unplug it, you will get a cel.
new TPS can be purchased for about $45.... omni sells them.

my 92 civic lx 5 speed is having a very similar problem and im not quite sure what to do with it. ive had it for along time it has around 240k miles and has been overheating for some time now. ive tried to fix the overheating problems by replacing thermostat and radiator and im still having overheating problems maybe this is happening because someone stole my catalac converter and i have one from a diff honda and my exhaust is halfway on!!!!!!! now my point is i was going to work one day and my car all of sudden overheated and busted the top hose on the radiator and i fixed it immediatly... but now my car is jerking really bad as soon as i get going and when i start it its actin liek its losing power!!!!! plz soemone shed soem light on this for me and give a few ideas,im checkin my spark plugs now and 2 seem to have a lil bit of oil on the tops plz help me out thx
just adjust your tps. my b16 swapped hatch was doing this as well. id take off a little to fast and the car would bogg and jerk. adjusted the tps and now its fine
My last civic was a DPFI, Hated it sometimes. TPS went bad and did the same thing. Replaced it, and the SOB revved properly, idled WAY better, and my MPG increased.
Im beginning to think its my main relay or my fuel pump aswell and the TPS.... my car wont start sometimes when its very hot outside i can kinda kick the main relay not to hard but tap it with my foot and the engine light will go off. For the fuel pump when i turn my key over i hear no sound anymore so that's how ive came to these two things, i cant hear the pump cut on and my car wont start when its hot outside but if i kick the relay a few times and air out the car it will start right up... NOW my car just isnt staring at all so ima replace the main relay for 20 bucks and see what this does, if anyone has some information plz let me know thx
For the overheating and starting prob do you think it could be my oxygen sensors since ive replaced everything else or because my exhaust is halfway on??? if so how many sensors would i have i knwo i have one in the middle of my headers thx
