stiff and bouncy suspention question
Hey I got a 95 hatch and I lowered it on tokico blue shocks with eibach lowering springs.
Is that a good setup?
I really dont like how it rides. If I hit a pot hole it hits very hard. It does not bounce down the road since it is somewhat stiff.
Let me get this straight- stiff suspension does not have much play.....right? and bouncy is suspension that is very soft and bounces down the road..........right?
last honda I bought had tokico whites with some red adjustable springs and it rode like a baby. The potholes did not his and the car did not bounce and plus the wheels did not go past the fenders. It wasnt that low.

how it absorbs shocks is down to dampening rate and spring rate.
if its to bouncy the shock does not have enough dampening on it to control the springs movement.
its if to hard so the wheels come off from the road going over bumps there is to much dampening or the spring is way way to hard. changing the spring rates also effects this.
setting up suspension is an art form as much as mapping is.
got to say koni yellows and eibach pro progressive springs is a very good street setup, firm enough to have good feedback with and yet soft enough to absorb most bumps/holes in the road (if you pay extra you can get the dampening adjustable units). of course tyre size and pressures also effect the ride!
my crx on D2 coilovers and 10kg/7kg springs was an utter nightmare on the street. the front wheels would actually leave the road surface over pot holes and small bumps, not fun with a b20 in high rpm with no LSD, as soon as one went off the road it would speed up and pull the car hard when it made contact with the road surface again!

thanks bro but is my setup ok or...............
there is no "regular" eibach spring, they have the pro kit and the sportlines. also, if blues have issue controlling rebound on stock springs; it only becomes worse if you go stiffer or lower. i really hate that shock. a working oem unit is better

aha well it said sportline on them. does that tell you anything about how good or bad it is?
yes it tells me you need more shock. the koni sports $455 are your best bet. the koni str.t while better than the blue is non adjustable and only $150 less. what you're feeling now is a lack of rebound. the car probably feels bumpy, wobbly, kind of uncontrolled ...it's the shocks
