D16Y7 Header Compatability?
Will an after market header for the d16 bolt up to the stock exhaust piping of a d16y7 motor? I understand that this will delete the CAT being that it is a part of the d16y7 manifold, and an 02 sensor must be lengthened, but is everything else a bolt-on procedure?
I just did this on my 99 DX.
The header that I used had 2 spots for the O2 sensors top & bottom. For the Bottom o2 sensor I did not have to extend my wires at all I just rerouted the wire from the o2 sensor around the back side of the engine and unclipped the connector from the bracket.
However if you need to have a cat due to emission requirements where you live you will have to use a EX exhaust and buy a cat. If not the header does bolt right up to a stock dx exhaust.

It does work fine as long as it has the 2 spots for the O2 Sensors instead of 1. Many headers have both spots just because some of the D16's have the O2 Sensor in front of motor like the D16Y7.
