Default '83 xl600r electrical issues

hey guys lately my bike has been having some issues with the lights. for example the tail light and the light that illuminates the speedometer flicker and dont stay on. One of my friends suggested that it might be an issue with the battery losing its charge. if anyone is familiar with this situation and can help me out by either confirming or denying that it could be the battery or offer another suggestion that would be great. also on a related note: the turn signals recently stopped working (stopped coming on at all) and I know they arent burnt out because i just replaced them and they were working for a while. Im at a loss when it comes to electrical stuff!

oh and i also just replaced the tail light and it was working perfect for a while until now. please help!

a light that flickers and wont stay on is usually a poor connection, some negative connections are made to the frame, and on an '83 bike, corrosion has probably entered the equation somewhere.
Did the speedo and tail light flicker simultaneously as if connected to the same circuit?
If so then it could be a poor negative (or other) connection somewhere, near the affected component or back at the battery, or somewhere stupid like the keyswitch or at a common junction/connection point.
If the battery was becoming drained or "losing its charge", the lights should dim but not really flicker or operate erraticaly, unless you've got some HID's or LED tail/turn signals that your not telling us about

Check obvious/easy things first, like the battery connections and bulb holders, for corrosion or dirt. And check your battery voltage when the bike is off, when idling, and when being revved
