Paint a Carbon fiber Hood or No?
Most (not all)cars sporting a carbon fiber hood is mainly for looks period, so should i just paint over it and call it good, i mean i like the carbon fiber hood look(and what it use for, for the most part =p), but when it hits the sun sometimes it looks like a black hood but faded out, (yellowish looking)
should i just paint it black, or a blackish clear coat? i know i could just reclearcoat it but, like i said it doesnt look so great some times
if i just paint it black, i think it would look pretty good,(since a carbon fiber hood looks pretty much black in this picture from far away)
if you guys have a car with sporting a black hood, (or almost black) post it up,

Color match it to your vehicle. Perhaps an ITR lip would look nice too... leave the mirrors as they r. I think that will serve as a very clean update to your car. Or u can paint ur lip that is installed and get some basic side skirts to go along with the lip. Even painting ur stock skirts will look good.

I've Never been a fan of the carbonfiber look. But I did have a black hood, roof and hatch on my CRX.
If I was you I would color match the top to you car and leave the underside CF.

An aluminum hood would be almost as light and much cheaper, except nobody runs those. I think it is probably because it would look the same as the original hood.
I say paint the hood to match the rest of the car. The paint barely weighs anything, so don't worry about the extra weight.
i painted the hood black on my civic because i liked the black hood.
carbon fiber is not for looks its for weight reduction.
however, people on HT use it for looks for the most parts. (some people who actually use it for the track, use it for weight reduction)
i prefer black over CF anyday, CF looks out of place most of the time.
but in your case, i think your Teg would look wonderful with a white hood

painting it black would make your car look like it got into an accident and you bought a black hood because you couldn't find one to match, might as well color match it.
color match it white or partially paint it color matched. This is what I mean by partially matched. Personally I like it alot on my em1. Dunno what a dc2 would look like.

The original reason for using carbon fiber parts was to reduce weight. I would bet that most of the people with carbon fiber hoods only have them because they like the way it looks.

Not entirely true. The original reason for using carbon was for weight, but more for the strength of the material for the amount of weight that would be produced. If you buy a hood from a manufacturer that is more concerned with high production than a high quality part; then they overlay it and it yellows and ends up a very heavy part. Now on the other hand if you get a nice hood, they will use a high quality uv gel-coat and it will never yellow. They will also use a vacuum infusion method of production so that it will retain a good resin/fabric ratio, thus a very low weight but high rigidity part. I don't think that an aluminum hood can get down to 12lb with the latch and brackets on it, like some of the good manufacturers can get a carbon one. I may be wrong though. OP, in this case I would suggest color matching it to your car and be done with it. GL.
Shouldn't this be in the integra or appearance section?
Also, who makes a decent stock looking cf hood and hatch for an eg, without having to spend an arm and a leg for them?

pretty sure that's because they used crappy resin/hardener. if they used the proper epoxy resin it would be clear. a lot of times, however, people will used more of a fiberglass resin to save money, in which case it WILL show a slight yellowish hue.
I say you leave it CF, but that's just my .02
what brand of hood is it?

Yes, the resin will make it a yellow hue, but that is not the case here. The yellow in this case is most likely because of a non-uv gel-coat being used.
And "fireblaze2k1" I do know of a good company you could get a competitively priced hood from. They only make race(cored) applications though. I will find his user-name and pm it to you.
