help just bought a jdm ecu for my usdm b16
i have a b16 in my 1998 cx hatch which is running on a p72 i think ... its from a gsr but my problem is that i bought a p2t jdm ecu and i wanted to see hoew to make it work because only two of the three plugs from the harnss fit into the new jdm ecu
oh and also does anyone have a picture or something to show me where to hook up my o2 sensors in my car as they are not hooked up and i dont know where to hook them in... thank you for your help
ok first hoffmanb16 can blow me... but as far as the harness goes the p72 is not the proper ecu for my b16 so i bought the right one and now and i need the right harness which is the honda civic si harness. Does anyone knkow how hard it would be to change out the harness with the motor still in the car and also where i could get a layout as to how to put it in correctly. thank you in advance

You don't need to change the harness. That's making mountains outta molehills. Get a conversion harness, save yourself the headache.
Btw: That may have been called a "jdm" ecu, and they may have used them in japan(?), but it is not japan specific. p2t came in Canadian si as well, maybe more. Mine says Canada on it. The plugs should not change for markets only obd systems, only pin locations may change(never used a jdm ecu so I don't know).
Check out this page. It should help you figure out why things seem to be different.

All you should need to run that ecu is an obd2a to obd2b harness. Look at the first ecu and determine obd2a or b. The p2t is obd2b. Ebay conversion harness: 35 bux shipped.

Ok but if I just convert that harness I have to work with my ecu won't it throw check engine codes ... I've seen where you have to modify abunch of stuff to get it to work right ... Anybody know anthing about that ?
just so u know i am currently running a jdm ecu with a jdm engine. if u use the jdm ecu it will not pass inspection unless your in a state where emissions i not required
Like everyone else said, an OBD2A to OBD2B convesion harness. As I side note I have my doubts that you bought a JDM ECU. Nearly all JDM OBD2 ECUs are OBD2A, they didn't switch to OBD2B like the US and Canada did for the most case. (CTRs did switch to OBD2B though IIRC) The first digit after the P2T will tell you the country the ECU was originally to be used in. If its an A, or a C its a north american ECU.

Good info.
Thank you for all the great info but I think I am going to just swap my wiring harness for a stock si one so it can be as oem as possible ... Any idea where I could find a diagram or a write up on that so I can better prepaid my self for doing so ?
