help valve compression
I did a head swap y8 to z6. When I first started car there was a lite ticking noise. I had a buddy who said a valve needed to be adjusted. So he decided to adjust all the valves. When I went to start car this time there was a bunch of noise much much worse then the original problem. He tried again no change now my compression is low in all but the forth cylinder where the noise originated from. Is this because the valves are all wrong. If so I will have them done right by someone else. Or is it more of a problem????? PLEASE HELP
let me give you a little history on the z6 head. I bought from a guy that had it machined shopped then he drove about 300 miles on it when his block went out thats how I ended up with it. It sat for 2 months before I put it on my car because my y8 head blew. Is this enough time to do damage to the head? Or once again did some dumb *** just screw my car by doing the value multiple time and now it worse. Just trying to give all info. Oh and I didn't do a compression test before he start messing with valves so I have nothing to compare to.

usually when one cylinder is that off it could be a bent valve which is way more of a problem. also he might have done the valve adjustment wrong. i think your having misfire. is there a check engine light?

the first time i took car on test drive ( with just the lite ticking) it ran nice. But after he attempted to due valve adjusting it ran horrible so much was going on loud noise didnt want to go ect.. So he did vaule again after each attempted it just got worse
The original sound was definitely a tick but now there is so much noise I cant tell. Yes the check engine light is on but it was on before I did swap. When I ran a code on it nothing ( before swap) so i assumed because there has been some modification. I think when the values where done he didnt have each cylinder in tdc because he said they dont have to be but im finding conflict with that??????

If this person tried to do a valve adjustment after you drove the car your valve lash is going to be wrong. Lash adjustment should only be done on a "dead cold" engine, as in sit overnight cold. Remember, metal is going to expand as it heats up. Your lash is probably double what it should be and will make a hell of lot of noise.

there's your problem!
don't let this guy touch your car anymore... you cannot adjust the valves with out putting each at TDC while your adjusting them! did he even use feeler gages? or did he just guess...?
i'd have the guy buy you a replacement head, that was just dumb on his part.

As stated before, don't let this person touch your car again. Since this person installed the head I would double check the mechanical timing and redo the valve lash. You didn't say exactly what kind of work was done to this head before you got it. Something to keep in mind if the cam is no longer OEM, many aftermarket cam tend to be a little on the noisy side. Another source of noise may be a stuck LMA.
