Well, first thing to do is find out what the decibel limit is in NY, since I doubt the cop that pulled you over USED a freaking decibel reader when he gave you the ticket. It's a bunch of BS of course, since the ticket is probably subjective to how loud the cop THINKS your exhaust is.
"In response to complaints from SEMA and aftermarket exhaust system manufacturers, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has issued new guidelines to clarify state exhaust noise regulations for use by all interested parties. The new guidelines make clear that aftermarket exhaust modifications do not in and of themselves violate muffler noise regulations unless the modifications result in noise levels exceeding California's 95-decibel limit."
So what? 95 decibels at idle? 2000 RPM? 5500 VTAKK RPM? 8000 RPM? These a-holes need to be more specific, since it's too easy for a cop to pull you over, give you a fix-it ticket (that isn't FREE to get cleared of course) and have you waste your time getting it checked out...JUST because they think it's too loud.
Here's the whole thing if you guys want to read it.

Go look up the db sound of your exhaust if they do show it online. If info and there you have as proof. If not put a silencer in that exhaust and get that thing sign off...ifthe ticket you have is a correction ticket.
does the exhaust looks like this

if so greddy might make one that fits or other companies. worth a shot. the exhaust does'nt sound that loud, it should be ok to be legal.

damn that sucks. f***in cops for real they pulled me over because another hatch passed me like at 100 mph and said i was racing when i i clearly changed lanes all the way to the right to let it pass. they gave me a ticket but luckily i got it lowered to $200 and took driving class to prevent a point on my dl. i wish i could have had proof that i wasnt racing especially when its on the freeway its hard to prove things but good luck with that man im pretty sure you can get a judge to let it go.
