easiest way to get tranny back on after doing a clutch??
I installed a clutch and flywheel last night with motor still in car, dropped the tranny put the parts on, but when I was tryign to get the tranny back onto the block I was having ALOT of trouble getting it back on, i had a clutch alignment tool, and its just so awkward to ge tit back up there, do any of you have suggentions or tricks that you have learned to match it up to the block easy?...Thanks
I swapped my clutch and tranny a couple month back. It was a real pain getting the tranny on.
Your using a floor jack to lift the tranny, right? Also, did you put the dowel pins in the tranny? I put a little grease on mine.
As you lift it, make sure it doesn't bind on the passenger side axle or the wiring harness.

I second the dowel pins. I didn't know they were removeable and the new tranny had it in the opposite side. Thankfully I noticed it. Patience is the key and a jack that you do not have to fight balancing the tranny on.

Yeah im using a jack, and the car is on a lift as well, Even when using the jack and with an aid from a friend, it still is so awkward getting it on with the tight area its in. it seems like its hard to see if the input shaft is going in straight on.
I just put my D-Series trany back in my Del Sol by myself. So it can be done.
My car was up on jack stands front and rear.
I put one of those old plastic milk crate boxes on the floor under the trany location. Then pick up the trany placed it on the box. Adjusted the motor with a jack. Then leaned over and fender, lifted a little and rotated the trans to get the dowels lined up.
DO NOT try this if you have back problems of any kind.

get some kind of a hoist, then get under it and fiddle with it. it'll go in eventually, or if your big enough, screw the hoist, and just lift it.
easiest way is to get urself and two other friends. one to lift from the top and the other two on the bottom, lifting and aligning. 2 friends and I seriously can get it in, in like 20 seconds.
I had made 6 inch long rods that I stick in the block where the tranny bolts go and then I place the trasnsmission on the rods then slide it in. Very very easy to do it that way.
