Default Team Texas Is COMING!!! (Edwards/Spies '10 MotoGP)

TEAM TEXAS IS GOING TO ROCK!!!

Edwards, has officially signed with Tech 3 Yamaha for next year. Spies has offcially signed with Yamaha Corp. till 2011. he's now leading the WSBK Championship and will likely be moving to GP next year and taking Toseland's spot since he hasn't produced and results worth mentioning this year... this is going to be pretty bad ***!!!

hopefully it works out.

why would Yamaha tell Tech3 to keep one bike open for him if it wasn't going to happen?

the only way i don't see it happening is if he doesn't win the WSBK title, which i'm sure he will seeing as how determined and consistent he is.

Nice! Suzuki missed out on that deal last year when he was wild-carding for them. Can't wait to see what he'll do in motogp with a good bike under him

new interview with Spies, taken after the Nurburgring race. he's asked about what's up for next year and responds with:

"there's a lot of options for next year, all i can say is i'll be on a yamaha..."

I'd like to see Toseland go back to WSBK and run with Haga and Biaggi. For Ben, it might be a year too early to see him in MotoGP...but maybe I'm biased from loving to watch him stomp all over the WSBK field.

Ben vs. Rossi would be fun to watch as well...

i don't think he's ready for motogp yet... i think both rossi and lorenzo are better racers. 7:47 he pretty much says he'll be in wsbk next year and motogp the year after.

my guess is Rea will stay in WSBK next year. Gresini Honda has given Elias/DeAngelis the boot as of a month or so ago. their seats are being filled by Melandri & Simoncelli for 2010. i've read rumors that DeAngelis will liking be going to Moto2, and Elias possibly going back to Pramac Ducati.

I'm really happy to see Melandri is getting a ride next year. The results he's gotten on that Hayate is nothing short of amazing.

Until Spies gets SOLID results in MotoGP, I'm not holding my breath.

Toseland...Edwards, even the GOAT of WSBK, Bayliss came and didn't got the same results.

So, until then...I'm putting more faith on Bautista, Simoncelli and even other up and coming 125 and 250 riders, before Spies.

I agree. Moto GP bikes are a different animal compared to Superbikes. Just because Spies does well in SBK does not necessarily mean he'll be dominating in Moto GP. Besides, I like Hayden. He's one of the few down to earth guys on the roster. It's his first year on a Duc and he's been improving lately. I hope he can do better next year.

As many of you, I've been watching Ben Spies since he was runner up to Mladin. He's the real deal and has the talent, feel, and communication skills to be a podium contender in the MotoGP by his second season. Maybe his first season. As for a MotoGP championship against Rossi and Lorenzo, tough call. He's blisteringly quick but Rossi and Lorenzo don't make many mistakes for someone to slip through for the win. They're damn near perfect as it is. With Ben on a Yamaha, and if everyone else stays the same until then, can't wait to see 2011. Hopefully Yamaha will gain some hp by then with the new engine limit. But I see Ducati having the hp advantage immediately, again, because of their desmo valvetrain.

i know this is just a rumor at the moment, but it's pretty interesting. if DeAngelis comes to WSBK, then Spies will likely move to GP with Tech 3.

World Superbike, though, seems keen to have the 25-year old Italian in that series. He is linked to a Yamaha WSBK ride and other open slots in the paddock.

That was so very unfortunate for DeAngelis. He DID go in hot but if you see the slow mo, you really can't blame him 100% because Colin went in deep before him and had to shut down hard. If you get the chance, you take it, and DeAngelis was looking to gain a position from Nicky and couldn't have seen Edwards braking so hard. Imo, Edwards shouldn't have gone in deep either. I think that's why he wasn't as visibly angry as Nicky because he knew that the instant he hit the brakes behind JL, he got plowed. CE even hit JL. Nicky just happened to be going around the outside and got mowed down. But ofcourse, although he can't be blamed 100%, he shouldn't have been so aggressive at turn 1 of the first lap. It was like the title of the movie Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Really, Nicky always gets bad starts and always ends up on the outside with no place to go.

the plot thickens, not 100% confirmed but MCN is a pretty legit source.

James Toseland loses MotoGP Tech3 Yamaha Ride...

World Superbike sensation Ben Spies has opted to quit World Superbikes and move to the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad where he will join fellow Texan Colin Edwards next season in an all-American team.

According to MCN sources, Toseland’s departure was finalised earlier this week after meetings between Tech 3 boss Herve Poncharal and senior Yamaha management in Milan.

Despite a hugely promising rookie campaign in 2008 when he claimed six top six finishes, the Yorkshireman has struggled to build on that success this season.

He was badly hindered by two massive pre-season crashes but only three top six finishes in the opening 13 races of 2009 have failed to save Toseland from the axe.

Spies, who recently signed a two-year deal with Yamaha, has decided to quit WSB even though he has yet to clinch the world title.

It was thought the triple American superbike champion would delay a decision on his 2010 plans until his WSB title fight with Ducati star Noriyuki Haga had been concluded.

But his decision has meant the end of Toseland’s MotoGP career after just two seasons racing against in the elite class.

MCN also understands Toseland’s manager Roger Burnett was in Milan this week trying to secure the 28-year-old British rider a place in Yamaha’s World Superbike squad as replacement for Spies.

But there is fierce competition for an R1 ride with World Supersport leader Cal Crutchlow a leading candidate. Aussie Chris Vermeulen also held talks with Yamaha management in Italy this week.

An official announcement on Spies’ decision could be made shortly with details now being leaked. If not the deal will probably made official at the Imola WSB round next weekend.

Spies’ decision to move to MotoGP will leave British fans without a home rider to support in 2010.

It looks like Crash.net is reporting Ben to MotoGP next year as well.

Reports suggest that 2009 World Superbike Championship leader Ben Spies has decided not to wait until 2011 to move to MotoGP, and will instead partner fellow Texan Colin Edwards at Tech 3 Yamaha next season.

According to Visordown Spies has 'already inked the deal' to ride for Herve Poncharal's team in 2010, despite a recent announcement that Spies would be staying in WSBK for one more year.

On September 4, Yamaha announced that Spies had signed a new two-year contract extension for 2010 and 2011.

The quotes from Spies that accompanied the announcement appeared conclusive: “I am very happy to say that I will continue in the WSBK series for 2010... I want to thank [Yamaha] for giving me their trust for a next career step into MotoGP in 2011."

However, the word 'foresees' in the statement itself triggered rumours that the schedule wasn't set in stone - 'The program foresees a season in 2010 with the Yamaha World Superbike Team and a switch to Yamaha's satellite MotoGP team for 2011' - while Lin Jarvis, managing director of Yamaha Motor Racing, carefully avoided specific dates:

"We are truly excited about the prospect of Ben's arrival into our future MotoGP program... Ben's primary mission is to win both his and Yamaha's first World Superbike title. After that when Ben eventually makes the move to the MotoGP championship we will be ready for him and, in line with the new MotoGP regulations, we will create a place for him within the Yamaha satellite team.”

Should Spies switch to Tech 3 a year early then it will mean that Englishman James Toseland is out of a job. Tech 3 has already made an offer to Edwards, which the 2009 MotoGP podium finisher is expected to accept.

Edwards is the top satellite rider with sixth place in the world championship standings, while Toseland is only 13th after a tough season.

Toseland finished his first MotoGP season in eleventh, and has claimed a best race finish of sixth in both 2008 and 2009.

Toseland's manager Roger Burnett has previously stated that the #52's other MotoGP options include Pramac Ducati and a possible new team, although the former double WSBK champion has a chance of more competitive seats in World Superbike.

As the only British rider in the premier-class, Dorna is likely to help Toseland remain somewhere on the grid.

Spies, a triple AMA Superbike champion who made his MotoGP debut as a wild-card with Rizla Suzuki last season, holds an 18 point lead over Ducati's Noriyuki Haga with three rounds and six races remaining in the 2009 WSBK season.

2009 is the Texan's first full year of world championship racing.
