Default did a swap engine ticking

I swaped a y8 head for a z6head . started right up but there is a ticking noise for engine. I checked all values and adjusted but the ticking is still there. I tested drove to see if the ticking would stop ( when warmed up) still there. The engine also got hot but I think this is my fault do to I forgot to bleed radiator. So I will do that if not I have more of a problem. I hope this is helpful on info any help would be appreciated.

A spark arcing from the end of the spark plug wire to the top of the spark plug would make a ticking sound. You may need to pull the boot back so the end of the wire is long enough to clip onto the plug.

You're not using any non-oem (or oem-equivalent) ignition components are you?

As mentioned, check the ignition system. Is the engine oil low? Another possibility is a loud fuel injector. An inexpensive engine stethoscope might help you pinpoint the sound.

Adjust the valve lash. That might do it.

Running into the same problem with my B18, but it sounds like it's the valves. Where do you get an engine stethoscope and how much do they usually run?

So what you are saying is you did NOT adjust the valves yourself, you assumed they were good from the shop after sitting for a month? I would definitely cease operation of the motor and ensure the valves are at proper settings before driving around again.

Just so everyone knows, I just had leftover Steak and potatoes, and it was delicious... just a little FYI...
