Default Is this a fair trade? Bone stock 94 LX for modded 95 ex?

Basically i'm tired of my 1994 Civic. It's a bone stock 4 door lx with the 1.5 liter. Only 88K original miles and it's a 5 speed. It is VERY clean inside and out. No exhaust noises, minimal rust, few minor problems, etc...

I put an ad on craigslist and said i'm looking to trade for a 2 door coupe civic. I got an offer from a guy who has a 95 civic ex. It's got a 1.6 engine and it's a 5 speed. It's got intake, exhaust, lowered, aftermarket wheels, short throw shifter, etc... Engine was swapped at some point and only has 81K on it while the body has 160K on it but it is really clean. Rust is minimal and paint is like new. Only problem is that the clutch feels kinda weird.

I'm just wondering if this would be a fair trade straight up? I don't know what these modded civics go for. All I know is that it's modded, which tells me it's been raced/beaten on. I know that mine is a sure thing. Mine is completely unmolested and has low miles and is very clean.

^ x2. Yours has 2 to many doors to be cool IMO. But to each his own. A 95ex books high at around $4000 and low at like $2700. I would make sure they didn't swap the y8 for another sh*tty motor first though. If not, have at it!

it wouldn't have a y8 in the first place unless it was originally swapped in.

plus, some people prefer four doors, for more ******.

I'd personally make the trade, although i can't see the pics of the coupe your links arent working for me.

Just because its modded, doesn't mean its been beaten. You should be looking at the owner for that.

My friend had sold his old EJ8 that had almost exactly the mods the car you're looking at does. He NEVER beat on that car. However, I'm sure most of the people looking at it thought the same thing. But it was their loss, because it was probably the best taken care of Civic for sale in the area.

Just try talking to the owner for a while, and you should be able to gauge whether they've been an idiot with the car or not.

Like others have suggested, get the swap checked out, as well as that clutch. If its all good, go for it! Good luck!

Clean title? Stolen parts? Be wary of folks trying straight up trades. Get the compression checked on that coupe, and if it all checks out, I would go for it! I personally have a 94 EJ1, I love it. Clutch feeling crappy isn't that big of a deal. couple hundred for a new clutch and flywheel and you're rollin.
