Icon2 Standalone TCU / TCM

Anyone know of a standalone transmission controller for imports / accords, or know of one that is programmable to work with these transmissions? I have checked out TCI, they don't support hondas, I also checked out Fast, haven't heard back from them yet.

That's interesting. I will have to look into this scanner. Never heard of it before. Do you mean I could use an obd1 tcm and reprogram it to work as a standalone for my obd2b ecu?

Up until the introduction of the 1996 models, ALL Honda TCM's and ECM's were standalone's. They shared several sensors and outputs but they were effectively autonomous.
After 1998 they were incorporated into a single PCM (Powertrain Control Module)

The OBD2 96-97 Accords have the TCU integrated into the ECM as well.

If I were to go with a standalone tcm, I would need a standalone ecu as well. There are various standalone ecus, but I haven't found a standalone tcm that works with hondas. Fast got back with me and they are out, linked me to PCS, powertrain control solutions. I haven't heard anything back from them yet. Another area I just started looking into was ecm reflashing. I am trying to find out more details, how far can you take tune / reflash, advantages and disadvantages. What I did find out, it is possible, if supported by the ecm/pcm, the investment it parts is high, so it doesn't make sense just for personal use, unless you build and sell quickly. Any thoughts on the reflashing?

What exactly is it that you want to do, change the shift points?

I am looking at boosted applications. I haven't found a standalone EMS that can also control the transmission for under 3k. However, if I could find either a way to reflash the ecu and account for the boost, or a standalone tcm to go along with a standalone ems then I wouldn't have to swap to obd1.

Might be cheaper to do a 5 spd swap vs a custom standalone control unit for your A/T. I've never seen a standalone TCU for the Accord.

Yeah I am looking into the 5 spd also. I have mostly a parts list, just know sure how much the whole swap would cost. I have only found one other standalone tcm company that I am waiting to hear back from. I need to further explore a pcm reflash also. I know I could keep it auto, just need to swap to an f22 transmission and go to obd1, rywire.com makes a harness for auto obd2b.

Any ideas on how much a typical 5spd swap costs?

Thats about what I was thinking it would cost for used parts also. Thats why I am trying to figure out either a obd2 reflash or standalone tcm, the rebuild kit for the tranny is 500 to 800.
