EM1 black box ? I'm sorry

Ok I searched honda-tech and google. I know it is a common dumb question that I can't find. What is the point of the black box on the 99-00 si? Can I bypass it? Thanks.

Are you talking about the charcoal canister? Yes you can bypass it but I wouldnt recommend it.
