ok so i have not yet been able to figure my vtec out, my cars basically rev limiter is at 6400 instead of 7200 or what ever it is supposed to be and i have no vtec. all the wiring is there, the ecu is good and everything else to not sure if it would be the vtec solenoid?

Check the solenoid. If thats good then go back over the wiring and make sure its correct. There is wiring diagrams floating all over this site with the digram so it shouldnt be to hard to find.

Does the CEL work [turns on for 2 seconds when key turned to ON(II)]?

What ECU do you have?

Is the filter in the solenoid clogged?

Is the oil pressure low?

 

make sure you have a p28. and check your ground for vtec

 

i have a p28 CEL works filter looks good oil pressure is good and where is the ground for vtec

 

How do you know the ECU is good?

 

i used a friends good ecu and it does the same thign

 

Will your buddy also let you swap in his VTEC solenoid and pressure switch?

 

all he had was the ecu he does not have a single cam car i wish he did

 

is there gaskets for these

 

I would try to get your hands on another solenoid and see if it does the same thing

do you have to replace the gasket after you pull it off

 

and would these things cause the 6200 rpm redline?

 

If the solenoid is not leaking oil, then the gasket should be fine. Just make sure the filter is not clogged. Also do the tests in the diagram.

 

the only thing i couldnt test is the solenoid its self my multi meter fried so i do not have one but everything else looks good

 

Borrow a multimeter. Or buy a new digital multimeter ($15-$20). You'll need this anyway to test the wiring.

but ronj could the solenoid if bad cause a 6200 redline

 

A basic digital multimeter is not very expensive. Call around to Walmart, Sears, Harbor Freight, etc. for the best price. You must have this basic tool to work on your car. Good investment.
