B Series Front Main Oil Seal Leak
Just wanted to share some findings with H-T and get some feedback on my theory.
So first off here is the rundown:
LS/Vtec that I rev to 8800-9000 RPM. Peak power is made at 8600.
LS Crank Pulley turning alternator and PS pump, L/W Flywheel and CC stage 5 clutch.
About 10k miles on build. Maybe less. Everything assembled by me.
So I found that I was dripping a little bit of oil in places that I have been parked for a few minutes. Looked under the car to see the pan was wet mostly on the pulley side. Pulled the pan and replaced the gasket and layered with Hondabond, followed tightening sequence etc. Let sit overnight for the RTV to completely seal before driving. The next day I took it for a spin and it still showed signs of leaking. Then I came home, decided to do some more involved research and pull off the lower timing belt cover. Sure enough I could see oil coming out from between the bottom of the crank and the front main oil seal that is in the oil pump. Pulled the pump off and found this:

I replaced the oil seal, buttoned everything back up and all is good. The pan has been dry for a week with multiple 9k pulls and everything is fine for now.
I am wondering if the LS crank pulley had anything to do with the crank spinning out of balance and causing this. The crank does not move any direction when I manually try to wiggle it(for lack of a better term.) I am now on a search for a B-series Vtec crank pulley preferably an ITR one. I am hoping that this will prevent this from happening again.
Thoughts?

you could have damaged the oil seal slightly when you first installed it originally. only a slight kink in that rubber seal will cause it to leak. it might have been so small that it didnt leak until after the many miles you ran it...
