my brake lights are stuck on in my hatch??? really confused . . . tried hitting the brakes and see if it would go off. . . pulled the connecter off the back brake light and pluged it back in and still on??? im lost
there is a blue piece that broke off from between the brake pedal and brake light switch on the pedal assembly. you can either put a new bolt, tape a penny or dime or buy a new plastic piece and put it back on and it should compress the brake light switch and turn off the brake lights normally.
this happened to me years back. there's a rubber stopper on your brake pedal you have go under the dash look at the brake pedal there should be a rubber stopper that hits the button when you let go of the pedal. you have to go to the dealer for that part.
kinda off topic but the same exact issue. have any of you ever experienced this problem but on the clutch safety switch? i was stumped on why my car didn't want to start up until i found more of those odd blue pieces of plastic. just thought i put that out if anyone ever experiences this starting problem.
I have had the "blue crayon" pieces on my floor mat for the brakes and the clutch safety switch. The brake light issue is listed under the FAQ but I'm not sure if the safety switch issue is listed there. They both use the same OEM part to fix them and I keep a couple of them in my glove box just in case.

ok guys thanks a lot. . . I just looked on my floor and seen blue plastic pieces laying there. . so thats what happend. . .but I cant seem to find where your talking about under the dash?? I was under there and didnt see anything. . . and whats the best temp. fix for this untill I go to the dealer because it drained my battery and now its completley dead. . . ???
look at your pedal assembly under the dash. press in the brake pedal and you should see a small opening on the brake pedal and a brake switch that has a white butten on it. the broken blue piece belongs in the hole on the brake pedal. since its missing it doesn't compress the brake switch therefore your brake lights stay on. put something in the hole on the brake pedal temporarily until you can get the missing piece from a auto parts store or the dealer. this will cause you brake lights to turn back off normally.
