i need some help.. my gf lost my keys for a 93 del sol s... i went to kragen to see how much the switch was and the guy said 342.. then online i found the cylinder for less than 20 bucks. does the 93 have a chip in the key? or can i just replace the cylinder?
need help asap.. thanks

 

you can just replace the cylinder, hondas didn't start using a transponder based security system until 2000 on civics. and no del sol used transponders to my knowledge, swap the ignition cylinder, and grab the corresponding door lock cylinder and trunk cylinder to make them all the same.. *OR* you can just have your cylinders all re-keyed to match your ignition cylinder, but the catch is you need the key for those tho lol.

 

im sorry on 2001 i believe. thats for civics. not sure on the other models.

 

why not take your registration down to honda and have them cut you another for around 20 bucks

That's right. The key will match the original factory locks. So if the cylinders had never been changed, the key based on your VIN will work.

 

Dude i really don't mean to jack your thread, but i started my own a week ago and 37 ppl looked at it and nothin..... But does anybody know if i can use a ignition assembly out of a 95 automatic Dx coupe in the same yr manual cx hatch?? any opinions would be helpful. thanks
