Default itr spoiler gaskets?

i'll be taking my itr spoiler off for a few days, weeks or maybe months for a different look w/o spending much money (i'll be spending money for hole plugs/rubbers etc, any suggestions?)

i'll definitely want to put the spoiler back on when it starts raining (aproximated few months from now in fall rain will start coming in) so what kind of gaskets should be used? from what i see i have some black sticky adhesive like carpet looking gasket substance on mine.

well unless anyone has confirmed that their plugs and what not on their trunk holes caused no rust or leak, i'm gonna put the spoiler back on for the rainy season as someone mentioned gasket + spoiler = no leaks or rust compared to spoiler hole plugs which some ppl claim that water runs in

in that case i hope my antenna hole doesnt leak or have rust because i've had a rubber grommet there for over a whole year thru rainy seasons b4

thanks! good feedback and personal stories/feedback that make sense will be appreciated

^^ thanks

also should i buy new gaskets when i want to put my spoiler back on? they do seemed to have protected the paint from going all mangled n ****. because when i peel the old gaskets off (it is quite hard to do... hair dryer and fingernails) the paint underneath looks unmolested

also my nylon plugs seem disfigured and also don't seem to fit flush... how should i seal it TEMPORARILY AND EASILY REMOVED so water doesnt get in? one of my friends say nail polisher can create a nice sealant that can be removed easily.

CLICK TO ENLARGE, I USED 3/8" DID ANYONE ELSE HAVE OTHER SUGGESTIONS THAT FIT MORE FLUSH AND BETTER?

what i plan to do is after removing the rest of the gaskets, give it a clean up and touch up paint the bare metals and the hole itself as to protect from rust

final thoughts wing or wingless? thanks

i think i'll do a clone shot tomorrow, =\ same exact position and what not etc but one w/ wing one w/o

Make gaskets out of 2mm thick craft foam. I made tail light gaskets from craft foam and they work great, and they are cheap.

Yup, you can get them there. No leaks at all for over 6 months.

i got a black sheet of foam, the only problem is that if it soaks in the water my trunk will become rust fast... during rain season... trapped water under foam and holes = HELL NAH

have you tested if they soak in waters?

No, I haven't dunked them in water. However, the foam sheets are much more denser than OEM gasket foam. That and combined with the pressure when you bolt down the spoiler will repel and prevent water from entering. I get a lot of rain where I get (Hilo, HI) and I have not have any problems with the foam gaskets I made. If you are still worried, spray some sort of water repellent on the foams before installation.
