Default Is my crank toast?

I dont want to reground the journal I will get a micropolish if its still usable. There is no burr on it just a gouge in the surface will this cause problems with oil clearance or posibly trap particles in my oil under the bearing.

Looks like you both love me so take this to heart son.

I personally would not use it. The reason being crankshafts are under extreme pressures and if they are not perfectly smooth all the way across it will cause the bearing to get "ate" up from the gouge on the crankshaft. Even slight scores are enough to chew through bearings. Remember aluminum and brass are not stronger than steel.

I dont care if I get flammed but your really not that bad If you Micro polish it. On the honest the Oil hole is right there too and the crank (at correct clearance) should move freely. Ghetto yes but Toast no.

Yeah its toast. Unless you know someone who could regrind the WHOLE thing and get the right thickness of bearings (which would almost be a waste) its toast.

micropolishing isnt a BAD idea, its just not a good one. The damage to the crank is not enough for micro polishing to take out. and oil can fill the space in, but when pressure is put onto it (say from the pistons power stroke) it will move the oil out of the way and there wil be contact.

Crank is SHOT

AGREE!

The weight of that crank should keep you in one spot. OR if you like to go Innertubing then bring it with and drop it where you wanna sit and sip a few beers while waiting for friends

LOL really? When did you come to that conclusion? They don't even make oversized bearings big enough to fill the void after he had it turned down to get rid of the gouge.

I had a crankshaft that I purchased from a deadbeat on Honda-Tech. It was toast. I took it to a place where I live called Spartan Crankshafts. They welded and ground the crank back into spec. It ran me $250.

WOW you actually paid $250 for that, are you crazy? You can get a forged one shipped for under $150... Also everyone knows that a welded and ground crankshaft or camshaft wears a lot faster because not being part of the forging process. Look up metallurgy make ups and you will see how welding effects these properties as well. Also the metal from the weld is not the same from the same forge as the crankshaft.
