Post D15b Questions
Ok, so I got the motor in, partially tucked, runs and drives with the stock ecu, but I have some questions:
#1 with the P08 ECU that came with my motor, my shift interlock won't disengage. swap the stock ecu in, shifts out of park fine. I know that I can use the shift interlock bypass, or i can bypass the the interlock all together, BUT i want to make sure its not an ecu problem, since I just bought it. How do I test to see if there is a problem with the ECU or if I have to wire something different for this ECU.
#2 I get a 21 code for the VTEC Control Solenoid. When I went to wire Vtec, all the wires were already there. I have the orange/white wire from the ECU (pin #A4) to the passenger side shocker plug, where it turns to a green/yell. wire and goes to the vtec solenoid. i have the blue wire from D6 to shocker plug, to the oil pressure sensor. i also have teh oil pressure sensor ground plugged in.
I had the check engine light come on with that code even before i drove it. can the computer pick up a problem with the control solenoid even before its engaged?

its been 6 hours, hold your horses bro
take off the panel under the steering and look for the white thing covering the bottom of the ignition keylock. 2 screws and it snaps off, there is a little tab lock deal by the key insert. pop it off, you will see a metal pin, one side has a cone shape 'gauged' out of the end, the other has a big groove. that pin removed, put the white cover back into palce.
now go under the dash. its a cramped space, so say some pleasing words for your back that you are going to throw out lol
to the left of the brake pedal, 90% of honda automatics have a blue box tucked up in the corner. unplug the wiring from it.
put the po8 back in, give her a test. should not have teh lock anymore and should function fine
I can post pictures tomorrow if you want me to, but following my directions, its a simple task
good luck man

hes saying with the P08 he cant take it away from park. doing my method, the ignition wont lock, and the park *should* allow shifting as normal
I say should lightly, because Ive never been in this situation

there is a guarenteed way, and that involves removing the interior around the shifter and simply popping off the lock assembly. you still need to press teh shifter button to shift, but the extra mechanism that is locked until the car is on and the brake is pressed, will be gone or "disabled"
