Default remove cat. converter!! help!!!

first of all, sorry if thiss in the wrong section! idk where it should go.
well, is it bad to remove the cat? or is it good? i just had my car removed it out cus it was leaking then i didnt wanna get a new one so i had the shop to weld an extra pipe in that spot but now its kinda smell when i start it up. so should i get a cat or no? any idea???
ps: no worries about emissions im from MA so any car under '95 don't have emission test.

dont really have much to worry about not running a cat i dont run one and what you are smelling is just exhaust fumes since there is no cat there is no filter hence the smell but you wont have any problems from not running a cat
