im having problems with my coupe!!! i had a stock p28 and it never went above 4k rpm!! i order hondata thinking it might help me with my problem and it does the same thing!!!! the other day i removed my abs system and feels a lil better but still wont rev pass 4k !!! does anyone know why this is!? has anyone gone through this before!???

 

well youre obviously in limp mode. have you checked for oil leaks? perhaps theres not enough oil pressure to engage in vtec, which kicks in at 4800 rpm on a d16z6. mine wouldnt go past 4,000 rpm since my dizzy o ring was leaking. replaced it and its running great now

 

Check your distributor, even in limp mode for an OBD1 car it should rev past 4000k rpm, switch your distributor for a known good distirbutor and see what happens.

Yup dudes right check the dizzy...also take a look down your cylinders and see if youhave a bunch of oil leaking in any of them....If so your car isn't running on all of the cylinders which will cause you to lose power and could result in you not being able to rev above 4000rpm....does your vtech crack when you jump 3krpms???

 

No leaks at all!! i had that motor on my crx and it was running good!!! i put it in my ej cuz i went k series on my rex!!! and yeah there is enough oil!!!

 

got msd on it!!! unless the dizzy internals are bad!!!

 

no it doesnt!!! and its running on all 4 cylinders i already checked that!!!

Maybe its a bad ecu, swap it with a buddy and see what happens.

well i had my p28 in it! and i got a new one when i got my hondata they both different!!! but ima try a different one! ill let you guys know what happens!

Hey, this is going to sound weird, but go check the number on your engine. Is it a D16z6? I bought an EJ1 and was having the SAME problem, turns out I had a D15B8 in there the last owner put in. I know it's an odd thing but you should check just to be sure.

 

i have an ls vtec on the bottle!!! it worked perfectly on my crx but on the ej its been giving me problems ever since i swaped it in!!!!!

 

i have the same problem in my stock 89 sedan. the dizzy got fried, so i replaced it, checked timing and timing was perfect. everything is set right. i have no idea what could be wrong with it. any ideas would be teh ****.

 

vacuum leak possibly?
