Default b16a or boosted d15b

hey i was wondering what would be better:

eg 4 door
jdm b16a with a gsr trans 70k miles
dc ceramic 4-1 header(not installed)
skunk2 pro2 intake mani(not installed)

or

ej1 coupe with a
JDM D15b Vtec with LSD Trans 30k miles
Cometic Head Gasket Arp Head Studs.
T3/T4 Turbo street tuned on crome for 10psi.
got a full 3in exhaust with cat deleted.

i have the 4 door and want to know if it would be worth it to trade for the ej1 or just keep my car and put those things in and get a few other things like an intake, throttle body spacer and maybe a chip. and eventually probably turbo or supercharge.

whats the hp on the d15? also how long has it been running on boost? how many miles on the d15?

i ask this because i think 10psi is too much for a stock motor for it to be fun AND reliable. keep the b16.

the only thing is its going to cost me alot more money to do that. the engine has 70k on it now and by the time i have all the money together it will be higher than that too. not sure what i should do.

ok, sorry thought the 30k was miles on tranny. i still say b16, even at 100k do a timing belt and water pump and go for broke. your b16 on 7-8psi at stock compression should give you 250-270whp and should be way more fun to drive than a d15

id stay away from 10psi on stock internals. you should be able to get a safe and fun tune at 8psi, and honestly ~20hp isnt going to be a huge difference

if i would be keeping stock internals and doing just 8psi, would i be better off just getting a jsrc? seems like it would be more reliable, cheape to have it all done and still be pretty fun to drive.

thats all up to what you want your car to do and how. if you want better top end power, then go with the supercharger, but if you want better low end power then go turbo. each set up has it pros and cons and either one should make you smile ear to ear the first couple days/runs you get. 8psi is a safe number on any stock motor, not to say 10psi isnt but you run the risk of something unexpected happening. if you really want the ~20hp go with a full 3" exhaust, instead of a 2.5", and that should get you back where you want to be.

Depends how you look at it. Supercharge is cheap and reliable. So is TURBO. But SC can only go to a certain limit. I believe 9psi. While TURBO...u get the picture. If you just want a fun little build. A supercharger should be enough. Thats what im doing to my d16

thanks for the input. also to boost my b16, turbo or sc, id be paying a couple grand for everything, kit, install, ecu, tune and be getting 250-270? as where i could do a straight trade and get 235. thats why im not sure on what to do. and my friend has a supercharged d16, its pretty damn quick.

the d15 should be fun, but do you know the driving and maintenance habits of its owner? the d15 would only be about 50hp than where you are at now (if your motor is stock). if you spend a few hundred bucks on i/h/e you shouldn't be too far behind as you gather parts for boost.

not really sure of the owners habits, all i know is it is his daily. id much rather spend the few hundred and be a little behind that and be n.a. but i dont see how i would only be a little bit behind that if the jdm b16 is supposed to have 170hp, so probably around 140whp?? the d15b dynod 235whp and ran a 12.9 at the best.

yea, but if stock to the wheels it has 140 then with the bolt on's it would only be at 160whp. thats a 75whp difference between the b16 with all bolt on's vs the d15b boosted.

go for the D. WHEN something breaks look at the cost difference. And PSI means nothing ,its the CFM the turbo is flowing. i could have 10psi but make 150hp so that means ****

getting b16 over 200hp will cost more. unless you can find a bseries turbo manifold and use all that stuff on the b16. if you can do that do it. more is better...
