someone please help me> i have a 98 civic ex with 17k miles on a rebulit top end (stock motor) with a almost brand new battery, and i cant seem to figure out whats causing this

my car idles normal to low at all times except when i turn on the a/c and then the rpms drop to nearly stalling out, and also when i turn on the headlights they are dim inless i give it gas. it seems like every little electrical thing seems to affect my rpms but i dont really have rough starts like the alternator is going out...

any ideas guys? thanks in advanced

 

hmm.. electrical issue

Im thinking your alternator is not working I just had this issue resolved on my lexus with the same details. the problem on my car was that the power steering is placed right above the alternator so the power steer fluid leaks right on top of it and sure enough it went out on me and drained out my battery.

you should get it checked out at a shop.before your car really drains out your BRAND NEW battery.

 

it could b working but not to its full charging capacity. arcitekt is correct dnt ruin ur new batt

 

It could just be that your battery is running out of juice...Another thing to consider is some of my friends run two batteries: one for the car and one for all the accessories and their cars run flawlessly.

Even though you say its a brand new battery, check it. I just bought a new Odyssey battery and it ran out of juice in a couple months, took it back and this one is fine.
