JDM GSR swap MPG question?
So I just swapped in a JDM GSR in my teg. Motor runs strong but sort of hate the gas mileage im getting. Trying to see if its normal. On a full tank im getting about 300-320 miles on 91 octane. Mostley highway driving. Heavy foot every now an then but nothing to crazy.
300-320 miles and the tank is what 10 gallons. 30-32mpg, not bad.
What did you expect?
Is the car tuned at all? What ECU JDM or USDM?
Did you put in new plugs and plug wires after the swap.

If I got 32mpg, I'd crap a brick.
2000 GSR, engine completely stock. I do anywhere from 190 to 220 miles a tank.
And I drive like a pseudo-hypermiler around town. Light throttle, shift at 3,000 rpm, as much coast time as conditions allow, etc...
Mileage is affected by how the car is driven, but also by the environment it is driven in. I have a 30 to 45 minute 6.6 mile, pure surface street commute (that's an average speed of 8.8 to 13.2 mph, depending on the traffic). Nothing gets good mileage idling at red lights.
Honestly, for mostly highway driving, 32mpg is better than the EPA rated the (US version of the) car for (22/28 is the GSR rating). And most people complain because they never get as good of mileage as the car was rated for...

Lol. Damn that's some nice gas mileage. I'd be happy with 300-320 anyday.
I have a freakin' fuel economy car and I get 250-280 (depends on where I drive) a tank only.

refill your tank to the top. set your trip meter to 0, drive until you feel its time to refill again. Refill and look at how many gallons you refilled. take the number of miles you drove from the trip meter and divide it by the # of gallons refilled. should give you the most accurate mpg

seems to be about the same. the rumor was jdm ecus have slightly more timing and slightly less fuel. no clue if it's been verified. my mpg is the same on the jdm p73-003 or p73-a02 usdm ecu. biggest difference is the 120mph limiter on the jdm ecu
Funny because mine doesnt go much faster before it hits redline....w/ the 4.78 FD.
It would help if you told us how many gallons you filled up before counting the mileage and then fill up again and see how many gallons you drove on and miles on it.. i usually fill up with 8-8.5 gallons and i get around 250 miles on that and the most i taken it was 290 miles on 8-9 gallons driving it smooth, also i drive easy on the street and on freeway around 75-80mph and this is on a dc2 with sir-g swap (jdm gsr) with low really low mileage.
