New member needs help! 91 no start! please!
Hi all, Sorry to come onto this forum and have my first post be a call for help, but anyway, here goes:
I have a 1991 accord, 2.2 engine, Auto trans.
The car will not start, it will crank, it gets fuel and spark while cranking. However, when the key is position #2, the ignition seems to be "dead", there is no lights on the dash, the clock is not lit, nothing. so it will not run. When the key is inserted and in pos. 1, I g a chime and seatbelt action, but key turned to pos 2, the check eng, etc lights do not come on.
I have tried replacing the main relay, checked all fuses. I have checked the continuity of the ignition switch, I am getting continuity between the main power wire (white, I think) and the yel and yel/blu wires when key is in #2 pos, so I don't think it is the switch.
I need to get this back on the road! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

you tried replacing the main relay or you did replace it? main relay was the 1st thing that popped in my mind.
have you done anything to it recently, repair work, etc. maybe forgot to connect something back.
and your positive you have spark in all 4 cylinders.

Okay, turns out it was the ignition switch. I thought I had tested it right, but I guess not. I found that if I turned the key to pos 3 (start) and released it just a bit until the starter stopped cranking, but the key remained in pos 3, the car would run. So I searched that and found that is a good diagnosis for a bad ignition switch. So replaced it, and the car is tip-top. Thanks!
