door lock module/mechanism problems
My girlfriend has a '03 Civic Si hatch, and I'm trying to work out this issue with her driver's side door mechanism. She says initially her key fob would not work on the driver's side door, and now you can't turn the key in the lock barrel either.
You can, however, lock and unlock the door manually from the inside. The door pulls on the inside and the outside work too. So I don't think it has anything to do with interference of the rod.
I've done similar work on many VWs of the same generation, and they all just have one main door lock module in each door that I'd replace. Is it the same on these Hondas? ...and would you guys think it'd be the module (if there is one) as well as the lock barrel itself? I haven't taken the door apart yet, just wanted to do some research before I dive into it. Any help or thoughts you guys have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure why the "key barrel" is not working for u. I'd say take it to the dealership for that. For the key fob problem it is more that likely it is the door actuator, they run about $250
The driver's side actuator on my '03 RSX went out last fall. At first the remoted lock/unlock was acting up. It got to the point the key wouldn't turn either. Then the inside handle wouldn't work because the door wouldn't unlock. Replacement actuator was about $35 bucks, part only.

$35 sounds a lot better. I can do the labor myself. Was just trying to familiarize myself with the door lock setup on Hondas.
Anyone have a link to an illustration/photo/diagram of where the actuator is/what it looks like?

What other model car door actuator is the same as the EP3? I have the same problem. Basically, the lock wouldnt go up or down via using the remote or the master switch. I have to put it manually or stick my key in.
Hey guys.
I have a similar problem with my accord 06.
The transmitter on the key unlocks the driver door but when you press a 2nd time, it does not unlock the passenger and rear doors - instead i hear a clicking sound as if they are trying to unlock.
Using the key in the key cylinder produces same results (1st turn unlocks driver door but 2nd turn does not unlock the remaining doors). I cannot use the key to wind down the windows as a result.
However, the door panel master switch inside the car, locks and unlocks all the doors.
Also, the four doors lock on their own when i open and close the driver door with the engine running.
I think this problem may have to do with the MICU or the door multiplexer unit. I have not done a diagnostic on the car since the MIL is not on.
can anyone help me with ideas/explanations so i can fix the problem? Thanks in advance
