Default Problem with valve adjustment?

Has anyone experienced this:

I have an H22A head that has been port/polished 5 angle valve job,
Crower springs and retainers w/ stock valves.
When I tried to adjust the valve, loosing the screw all the way open,
I can't slip the .19mm spec (exhaust) feeler gauge between the rocker and cams!???
The intake side seems to be okay. It's the exhaust side which no matter how
loose or tight I turn the screw, I can't slip the feeler gauge in between!???
Anyone ever had this problem or what the heck could be wrong?
By the way this is on an H23A bottom end. Need help ASAP.
