Helms, Haynes, or Chilton
Helm, hands down. Costs a bit of money though. Haynes and Chilton are both "okay" for most stuff, but lacks enough pictures in many cases. The instructions also tend to be generic, with some slight adaptations to fit the model.
If you want to start getting into the jobs that require more skill/precision, don't even bother with the Haynes or Chilton.

x3 for Helms

the best service manual. Beats Haynes and Chilton easily. Has the most detailed pictures and diagrams of the three. And it's instructions are much more specific to your car since Haynes and Chilton both cover a broader range of years and instructions are usually more generalized. Not only are the instruction more detailed but there are a lot more instructions in the Helms from basic maintenance to tearing down and putting a transmission back together.
