I just got the car back from the fabricators and I’m a little bit worried about the main hoop. I don’t really have a good shot but you should be able to tell that there are 4 bends totaling over 180*. Now in the 2009 SCCA GCR the verbiage regarding a maximum of 180* +/- 10* is gone. I’m not sure these pics show how well this thing is tied in and how awesome the triangulation is, but I wanted some opinions from other fabricators. For the record this is not exactly what was requested, but if its safe (which I think its plenty safe) and meets the rules then there is no need to send it back.

It's DOM... We have a section of it left so we can fabricate a sliding seat brace. Our old cage was 1.75 X .120 ERW/DOM and had about 10' more worth of bars... so were saving 50+ lbs with the new cage. Plus the fabrication and triangulation is 10 times better.
That dash bar is pretty useless in a side impact. The bar should be straight so it doesn't deform. As is now that bar will bend and allow the cage foot to possibly intrude into the drivers legs.

It was either that or the shin breaker... Its an optional bar in an IT cage... so Im really not worried about it. Not to mention its pressed against the firewall.

Agree on front transverse member at the dash- should be straight or there's not much point.
In the same way the harness is a bit wierd IMO- I would have not put a diagonal there and a weird bent hardness bar.
I'd have done everything possible to keep the harness bart straight as well, and put the diagonals (one in each direction) behind, where you have a straight transverse member, oddly enough.
Not sure of that made sense....
