91 accord eengine swap
i have a 91 accord with a older engine. i was wondering what engines i could swap in there to have some fun with? i dont want anything super uber just something fairly cheap i can have fun with and do somethignw tih without needing to go overbaord
that older motor in your accord is the stock F22a1 or F22a4.... you can get amazing horsepower and torque out of that motor for the same price that you buy an H22 or and H23......
search Bisimoto F22a on youtube to see the possibilities of this motor... F22a's are all i work with and let me tell you they are the easiest and most reliable motor i've ever dealt with...

^^thats what i would say. for not that much money you can make some decent reliable power out of an f22. Bisimoto would be the way to go if your gonna go that route. there the pros with that stuff
here are a few tips and tricks to get some extra horses for under $250
1. replace your intake manifold with an H23 intake manifold....
you can find this in any junkyard, craigslist, ebay, or hit me up and i can send you one really cheap....
2. if you have an F22a1 you can change in exhaust manifold either to the A4 manifold that was made like the tube style headers for better flow or get yourself some ebay headers which (heres a tip) is unbranded headers... so they can be anywhere from obx, megan, and skunk2... they just dont have a name so thats why they are so cheap.... i've always used those and they work amazing....
3. change your camshaft for the F22a6 which is more aggresive...
4. eliminate your balance shaft belt which will free up a proven up to 8-9 whp... which is like saying 12-13 hp which is also a huge gain...
4. change your PT3 ecu to the obd1 prelude p12 ecu...
5. if your going to get an intake get a cold air... short rams suck in hot air in the engine bay which is no good for a performance.....
i've done all of these mods on and eliminated my PS and complete AC system my old 91 coupe and from the stock f22a4 dynoed at 123 whp 134 wtq, i pulled an amazing 172 whp and 181 wtq....
just make sure you clear all CEL codes, get a new oxygen sensor, replace all your gaskets to make sure you dont have any oil leaks which lead to a slight loss in compression... not so much to be noticible but any loss be it a .0001 loss is still a loss and can make a difference....

holy hella miles on an accord batman!!!!!!!!
lol... i personally would do a rebuild on the head, get new pistons and piston rings, main and rod bearings, thrust washers, and while your at it replace all of the valves before looking into adding performance parts... but thats just me... i honestly dont trust getting another motor from a JY or someone else because they can tell you... yeah it was tested and runs good but you really dont know in what condition its in.... you could buy it, drop it in, and a week later have your block or head knocking like aarons when you miss a payment...

you could find everything you need for under $600 but thats just in parts.... .. its not an exact science to do all of the work yourself.... you just need the right tools, patience, common sense, a haynes manual, and a buddy thats willing to help with some of this work........
i will guarantee you that a mechanic will charge you no less then 1500 do install everything...

well i got a mechanic who i lent tons of cash to so he wouldbe willing to do all the work for free so i got that covered lol. so are all f series trannies interchangable? if i was to rebuild this engine id need to get a new one this one is getting kinda bad.
if your going to go performance on this motor get either an H22 or an H23 tranny.....
the H22 tranny has shorter gears and in my opinion is not all too great for a DD
but the H23 has mid gears which arent to short or too long which is perfect for DD's and performance....
dont forget to order a new clutch and flywheel bro...

err...... ok now you got me...... im not an atm guy...... i mean you can still build your motor but you'd have to get a racing torque converter... i personally would just do a 5spd swap but thats just me...
I have a question... I let my nephew borrow my 'used to be fun' `93 accord stock 5 speed - oh besides the tekico blues and sprint springs - well, now he calls me last night, and says it died on him while driving down his street, pulling up to a stop sign. Didn't notice when it had died, but tried to start it. Said he didn't hear anything bang inside the motor. It's still sitting on the side of the road.
I went over and tried to start it late last night. I'm not sure if it's the timing, coil, or fuel pump. I'm really hoping the latter.
Well, here's my question. If the Timing Belt broke, does that mean it undoubtedly bent valves? certainly bent valves?

Ok, I went and picked it up, pulled it home. I got it to start up, ran it for a few minutes, then turned it off. it then wouldn't start, I sprayed a little starting fluid. still no start. pulled the wires off the spark plugs to find the plugs are submerged in oil cause the seals apparently need replacement. I shop-vac'd that oil out of there, and haven't tried to start it up.
so there I have it... it's electrical. i guess that my next step should be replacing the plugs, cleaning the plug wires... oh and replace the tube seals.
will that fix my problem? I hope so.
