400Whp/300Wtq tranny options
I'm looking for a trans to hold the mentioned power reliably. I broke my B16 open diff (also split the case) and need to upgrade. The trans will be going in my EM1, so it has to be hydro and I prefer to stick with the B16/ITR gearing. Will a OEM USDM ITR trans hold this power? If not, what needs to be upgraded in an OEM B16/ITR trans to hold? Just the diff? More? The car is driven on the streets and runs drag radials. Any questions just ask.
Thanks for the help, Mike

Believe it or not I forget the clutch brand off hand....... It is an unsprung 6 puck. It has about 10-12K miles on it at this power level with great results so far.

I did some searching and it looks like driving style has a lot to do with what trans will work. I consider myself a smooth driver so the ITR should work, but it's definitely not bullet proof.
I'm open to any advice/opinions.

With that much power on DR's the only thing I'd be worried about if the FD. More power or slicks then I'd worry about the diff and gears (assuming you run an ITR LSD). I've got an ITR trans ready to go.
if your that worried about it with 400 wheel, send the gears off to get heat treated. buddy of mine recently did that on his daily 750+ eg hatch. hasnt broken anything yet...
We did fine on a stock B16 tranny with a Quaife LSD for two years on about 450whp. The 6 pucked clutch did wear pretty quickly and worn down on 4th and 5th gear synchros. We ended up replacing the B16 4th and 5th gears with GS-R gears.

Aquafina,
Read your signiture and it reminded me that I am using an Action clutch.
I have heard slicks are better for trans life since the sidewall absorbs some of the shock to the drive train???

Nope. If you don't know how to drive and compensate for different track conditions, the slicks/radials will be worse on the trans than street tires.
dang this is my problem also. so aquafina, what is SImike's next step move?(and mine too). no busted tranny though, but i have driveshaft shop axles and street tires(slicks soon)
