F22 VTEC into 96 LX
Question: For wiring, say the motor is OBD2a like my car. For swapping F22 VTEC into my non VTEC would I only have to add the wires for VTEC and get the correct ECU? If not what would I have to do to get this to work?
That is correct. If your swapping in an F22B1 you will need to add two wires to your harness. 1. VTEC pressure switch and 2. VTEC Solenoid. You will also require a P0A VTEC ECU. There is another function that the F22B1 may have depending on the year of the engine. It may have the Fuel Injector Air Control System (FIA) It is not a necessity to hook this up, but if the intake manifold has the port and you do not hook it up. It will need to be capped.
93cavRS, if you get a 94-95 F22B1 motor you will also need to re-wire the CKP & TDC sensors as well. Thanks for the reminder Nus

I thought the 96-97's were OBD2a and the 94-95's are OBD1? But what you are saying is that the 96-97's are OBD2b like the 98-02's? Just trying to get a few things cleared up.

No you are correct. Sorry! My mistake. Too early in the am wasn't thinking clearly yet.
94-95 = OBD1
96-97 = OBD2A
*Edit Note*
94-95 = OBD1
96-97 = OBD2A

Yes you are correct. The OBD1 94-95 have the CKP & TDC sensors in the distributor while the OBD2A 96-97 have them both mounted to the oil pump housing.
93cavRS, So if you get a 94-95 F22B1 motor you will need to re-wire the CKP & TDC sensors as well. Thanks for the reminder Nus
