B16A Random Early Redline
ecu: pw0
motor: obd0 b16a
replaced so far: complete new distributor, and new spark plugs, spark plug wires are in spec with factory.
Car redlines randomly between 6k and 8k, never makes it to 8.2k.
vtec works and I have no cel.
The problem was intermittent, but now happens pretty much all day.
Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks for the reply. As mentioned no codes are being thrown.
I did find out that if i unplug the knock sensor it redlines at 8200rpm(like it should), but of course then it throws code 23 and the car is slow. I think this might be more coincidence than anything else, as the problem is still intermitent(just much more frequent now).

I have replaced the ecu with a chipped pr3 with the knock sensor disabled and am still having this problem.
Just recently, only at idle, i hear a knocking noise. I thought it was coming from the intake manifold, but on closer inspection it seems to be coming from the firewall. Around the fuel filter area, in a crx.
