Default Springs and shocks.

I'm new to the wed site. I do not have a JDM car but I'm going to get a FA5. But i have a question. I think its a stupid one but i don't really know. I want my civic to be as low as possible.

So can you have lowering springs and coilovers? Or one or the other?

Thank You.

Coilovers have lower springs, generally speaking. Coilovers also normally offer height adjustment. IIRC Neuspeed Race springs will drop you 2" front and rear. As for coilovers, they can get you up to a 3.5" drop IIRC.

I'm on Eibach Sportlines at the moment. They drop you 1.4" and I scrape if I don't pay attention to approach angle.

+2 for eibach sportlines. great ride quality ftw!
i only have to angle for a few dips. but if i scrape,
im only scraping that stupid little flap in the front.
never actually scraped the bumper.

Low doesn't automatically equal better handling.

Im not looking to have great handling like on the track or anything. I love the look of a low car. But i do want a smooth ride since it is going to be my daily driver.

Low as possible + smooth ride = impossible

the lower you go the less suspension travel you have. this translates into a very bumpy ride and hitting the bump stops.

Very true, some complain about how stiff my Eibachs are, I don't mind them and have driven across 3+ states (hit Texas 2x in the trip so really 4). Ride quality is also very dependent on the dampers. Even if you get a set of non adjustable Koni or Tokicos the ride will improve greatly.

one step better than cut or heat shrunk springs is no springs at all!
