milano red dupli color mini project
Just completed refinishing my lip with milano red dupli color spray and I must say the color is 99.8% close to the original factory R-81 milano red. And the good **** is, it only cost me roughly $20 and some man hours.
Also, I got to give props to skipunk4 for posting his milano red dc4 project, thats how I found out about the dupli color milano red spray.
Just updated a pic with the whole lip and the weatherstrip for the couple of members who pmed for pics of it.

thx, dupli color clear coat/top coat. I bought the big can for a dollar more, but you get more!
If you are going to do it, I suggest this after you sanded down your lip to base coat:
1)Primer
2)sand smooth (400 grit)
3)primer sealer
4)milano red spray(2-3 coats)
5)sand with 800-1000 grit to smooth out the spray pattern
6)then clear(4 coats and let it dry for a day or two)
7)then watersand with 1000-1500-2000 smooth
8)then buff it with rubbing compound either hand or machine
9)Finally apply the wax of your choice
Well that's my suggestion for a smooth and clean looking paint job.
I want to correct myself on the price, it was roughly $20 for the primers, paint and clear. I just used sand paper at home, so you might want to factor that in too. But hey, still cheaper than letting a professional autobody shop paint it.

Thx for the tip, I'll keep that in mind for my next projects.

Yeah, glaze is a nice thing to use (real glaze, not anything you'd fine at Autozone -- 3M Royal Hand Glaze works wonders) to keep the paint hydrated and rich while waiting for it to cure.
Is it the same thing as 3M Imperial hand glaze? My friend gave me a bottle so I can use it when I wash my car. He said the same thing about it keeping the color dark and rich. Never got a chance to use it yet though. Probably bust it out tomorrow evening.
Yeah, that's what I was talking about.
I usually do a hand polish, glaze, and then a wax.
Check my detail thread, and NOFX's.

Thanks for all the positive comments, Appreciate it!
4-5 hrs of prepping the lip for paint and another 2-3 hrs of watersanding and buffing. I worked on it on and off, so thats just an estimation.
For ^ and those who pmed me on the weather strip, I got if it onebay, search bodykit weatherstrip
