Default F20b/h22 swap question?

Would either bolt up to my f22b2 tranny without any modifications?

I know i would need a better clutch, etc.

This has been covered a million and one times (almost literally), but...

Yes, it will bolt up no problem. However, the gearing of your stock transmission will cause you to lose most of the benefits of an H22 (or F20) swap. If you want the full potential of the swap, get an H22 tranny.

The gearing is very different. You would most likely be very disappointed with the swap if you don't get the matching tranny as well. There are no 6-speed trannies that bolt up.

CTR/ITR trannies can only be used with adaptor kits, which are made to be used in Civics and Integras. Doing so in an Accord is not a good idea, since the positioning of the axles would be off...

Right on point! We just did a F20b swap on a 98 Accord. The guy couldnt afford an H22 tranny. He opted for the F23 tranny. The car is slow out of the hole. Sweet engine, revs to 9000 rpm. But the gearing is way too long.

I use to run my F22Bx 5spd trans and man, my H22 Accord is slow as ****. It was a whole new world to me after I got my F20B(T2T4) LSD trans.

If I was you, I'd save up for an H22 trans or just get a whole complete swap.

You'd get better information from one of the Civic/Integra forums, but what I would do is use that motor, with your stock tranny or a CTR/ITR tranny. You would need an H2B adaptor in order to make it work, but I can't think of a better, more reliable setup for that motor.

A h23 tranny from the prelude wouldnt be so bad, its not as quick geared as the h22 or f20b but, if its a daily driver then the slightly longer gears will help with gas mileage.

The f22 tranny wont give the full experience like you were hoping for,...............unless you turboed it...............

Yeah, using a non performance but compatible tranny on a performance engine is not recommended.

It doesn't matter which engine series you have.

Putting a D16Z6 in your CX hatch, but keeping the CX tranny? Dog ****.

Putting a B16A in your Civic, but using a B18B tranny? Dog ****.

Putting a H22A in your Accord, but keeping your F22B tranny? Dog ****.

Putting a K20A2 in your EP3, but keeping your K20A3 tranny? Dog ****.

From the D to the K, mismatched gearing will make your car not much faster than stock, and you will lose to the correct stock setup, as well as the added effect of feeling like you wasted money on the swap.

Bump...

I have a 99 accord lx F23A1 motor, automatic tranny. The bands in the transmission are going out so I need to replace it. I was wanting to do a simple 5 speed swap from another accord. But, the more I look I want to put a H22 motor in and comprobable transmission. I know you guys said this has been discussed a million times. I am wondering if someone can suggest the exact transmissions and motor and parts needed to swap for a build like this. Thanks
