I just took off my intake manifold and the gasket is stuck onto the head. I tried to peel it off and it flakes and seems to be fused to the head. Is there any cleaner that will help get this off.... using a chisel and screw driver is taking well over an hour. Any help is appreciated thanks

and if you ruin ur gasket, put it on the new one b4 hand...

 

i usually use brake clean
that stuff works wonders

 

Use a razorblade-style scraper.
Sometimes it DOES take a long time to scrape off, because the heat over time makes the gasket brittle, and it flakes off like that.
Brake clean is better used when you are done, to remove any oily residue from both surfaces, right before installi8ng the new gasket.
Just be patient and scrape it off, trying not to gouge the intake.

i am having that problem too.

 

a grinder worked fine for me, but mine was stuck on the intake manifold, not stuck on the head.

 

A scraper is what i use,then clean with brake clean after.

When your ready to reassemble i suggest putting on a Bisimoto Heatshielding intake gasket. Its reusable and we have seen 7hp gains on the dyno as well as lower intake temps.

Put rags/towels in the intake manifold holes, douche the gasket with simple green and brake cleaner. Then use a razorblade to carefully get everything off. If you don't get everything, you'll have a leak. I went through 3 or 4 razorblades last time I did this. Scrapers/screwdrivers/etc can scratch the interface.
