Default people who own skunk2 coilovers... please respond

I recently bought a set of skunk2 coilovers from a friend. He said he is missing the "gold reinforcment rings".. but he thinks it is not neccesary to purchase these. For those of you who have the skunk2's do any of you NOT have the rings? any problems till now?

how long have you had them on for though? do you have harsh roads where you live? I heard the rings are needed becuase the threads can crack and then start splitting more and more if you drive on harsh roads.... anyone?

If you didn't know, they are only needed for the front. Its probably to keep the aluminum sleeve reinforced because of the engine weight. You could probably do without them.

I didn't have any reinforcement rings, and everything was fine for about 6 months that I had them on. Stiff as hell though...

I have only had them one for about 3 months but no problems yet. And the roads here suck ***. They are really bad in some places.

My Friend bought a '91 teg with Skunks. When I was working on his brakes I saw that his sleeves were cracked and deformed on the bottom from all the weight and bouncing from normal driving. I'd assume this is because there is no metal ring. I'll try to get some pictures.
